It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located on the trail, just upstream from the picnic table (2017). It is a large azalea, with a nice yellow bloom. It is a selection of the species calendulaceum.

It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located at the south end of this area, on the trail, as a large plant adjacent to R.’Lee’s Dark Purple’. It is one of the earliest bloomers in the Glen.

(1986) This azalea is just off the trail, on the hillside of the Hickory Gap. Due to lack of light, it is quite small in size and located just south of R. austrinum. The flowers are usually white and have a sweet fragrance, thus the name “sweet azalea”.

(2001) This azalea has white flowers, sometimes with a yellow blotch. It is located on the trail in the narrow area between the wide bridge and the Stone Bridge. It is near the intersection of the Hickory Gap Trail and the Long Branch East Trail. Its number is 01-V-056.

Rhododendron 'Rosy Cheeks'
(2001) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located on the trail, in the south end of this area, just southeast of a large azalea ‘Yellow Flame’. It is a hybrid of atlanticum x periclymenoides.

This old plant is located on the trail and has spread over the years from the trail to the creek bank.

(2005) This plant is located in a narrow area bounded by the Long Branch and the Long Branch East Trail, starting with the Stone Bridge and going to the Hech Bridge near the entrance to the Coastal Plain. It is located on the trail, just south of a large oak tree.

(Unknown date) This plant is located in Area 2K on the Glen Map of 1990. It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located on the trail, just northwest of R. ‘Rosy Cheeks’, and does not seem to be thriving (2017).
Rhododendron 'Perry Wiseman'
(2000) This hybrid is located on the trail in front of R. Fortunei Cream, in the area just north of the Hickory Gap. It is beside R. ‘Dorothy Russell’, which was planted at the same time.
Rhododendron 'Peppermint x hyperythrum'
(2000) Dexter’s Peppermint x hyperythrum is located in the area containing some Magnolia trees, just north of the Hickory Gap. It is just off the trail, south of R. fortunei cream.
Rhododendron 'Nestucca'#3
(2000) This hybrid is an award winning plant for the Southeast. It is an outstanding rhodo with the species fortunei and yakushimanum as parents. It has white flowers in early spring and a compact habit, with glossy dark green leaves. It is located on the trail, in the area just north of Hickory Gap, on the south side of R. ‘Peppermint x hyperythrum’.

(2000) This hybrid is located on the trail, just south of a large hickory stump created by Hurricane Hugo. It is just north of a Magnolia tree, in the area north of the Hickory Gap.

It is bounded by the Pine Woods Trail on the east, the Stone Bridge Trail on the northwest, and the Long Branch East Trail on the southwest. It is located off the trail in the south end of this area, close to a large R.’Mrs W. R. Coe’. It is an old, very large plant.
Rhododendron 'Madame Masson' #2
(2012) Hybridized in 1949 in France, this plant is compact and spreading with flowers that are easily recognized by their white color with a prominent yellow blotch. It is located off the trail, in the area with some Magnolia trees (north of Hickory Gap). It is just south of a leaning red bud tree and west of R. ‘Charlestown’.

Rhododendron 'Consolini 302'
(1995) This plant is located in an area bounded on the east by the Scout Bridge Trail, on the south by a drainage ditch and Coastal Plain area, and on the west by the Long Branch East Trail. It mainly consists of older plantings. It is located on the sidehill, due east of a large azalea, R. canescens. This hybrid was created by Tony Consolini, the head gardener of Charles Dexter.
Rhododendron 'Charlestown'
(2000) According to an an article in the Journal of the ARS, the name Charlestown refers to an identical Dexter hybrid now registered as ‘Sandwich Appleblossom’, formerly known by the unregistered name, ‘Appleblossom’. Our plant is located off the trail, in the area just north of Hickory Gap, and just west of R. ‘Madame Masson’ (planted in 2012).
