A Message from our Director
Welcome to the website for the Academy for Population Health Innovation (APHI). The Academy is a novel collaborative between Mecklenburg County Public Health and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte designed to advance the health of our community. The key pillars for APHI include: (i) innovation and research; (ii) education and professional development; and (iii) community engagement. APHI’s core is built around the application of data and best evidence to understand and address community health needs. This website provides an overview of our work, our structure, and our key personnel. Please feel free to look through the materials in detail, and let us know if you have an interest in joining us or feedback on the work. In addition, we have set-up a go fund me page where you can directly contribute to our success by providing much needed financial assistance.

APHI Launch & Academic Speed Dating- On the clear sunny day which was Tuesday April 11th, 2017, APHI hosted a launch and academic speed dating event. The goal was to introduce APHI to the public in a way that was informational, interactive and productive. Invitations went out to both members of the University of North Carolina Charlotte faculty as well as Mecklenburg County Public Health employees. It started with a slow trickle of curious UNCC and MCPH participants alike, until a decent sized crowd had assembled. Introductions were made by the APHI Director, Dr. Michael Dulin, who discussed APHI’s mission, 4 Pillars, Implementation team, and current and potential future projects. After, participants were released to float around the different tables as they pleased. The event garnered many positive reviews, and by the end of the event, multiple connections had been made in regards to future partnerships and collaborations. We can only hope that future events will measure up to our first event as the Academy for Population Health Innovation, our APHI program launch!
